Come on guys, it’s time to ditch the dull and switch things up.
Everything has been a little crazy in the last year and we urge you to be a little crazy too and spice things up. In the hair department that is.
Whether you’re growing your mane long, have the 90s curtain bangs calling your name, or want to chop your hair off to let your head breathe in the heat – we’ve got you. If you fancy a change to match the new season and the magnifique weather, don’t be nervous!
N4 has rounded up 2021’s best summer hair trends to help you decide what’s cool for you, and what’s not.
The Man Bun
The Man Bun breaks all of the rules. It’s definitely one of those styles that you either love or loathe. Personally, we are HUGE fans. We don’t see this one going out of fashion any time soon so you might as well embrace it.
So, what do you need? Easy – you’ll need hair ties and long hair.
If your hair is not already long, we recommend growing it to at least 6 inches to achieve the Man Bun. Start by gathering your hair and securing it on the crown of your head. Pull your hair into a ponytail by sliding it through the hair tie once. Do this again, but the second time, only pull it halfway. You may have to experiment if your hair tie is tight/loose and if you’re new to the look.
Keep it nice and secure with our botanical hair care products like N4’s Texture Styling Creme to help tame frizz and keep your flyaways at bay. It’s best to run this through your hair before you start styling, don’t worry though! It has a nice and lightweight consistency.
You’ll be the coolest dad at the beach.
Mid fade with brushed up hair
This style is perfect for you guys with lots of hair (thick and fairly long 2-4 inches is ideal). Your hair is styled upwards in a messy fashion that is quick and easy to do as you head out the door.
The sides and the back are cut short which is perfect to help let your neck and bottom of your head breathe in the hot heat. The top of your hair is almost like a quiff with the top brushed upwards.
Start by applying a generous amount of N4’s Texture Paste to damp hair by gently styling your hair upwards with it. Aim to make it messy, not defined (because of course, this is what’s trending right now), and grab a hairdryer and continue to style it upwards as you dry your hair. To style the top of your hair, work backwards and repeat the lifting motions whilst drying it with the hairdryer.
N4’s Texture Paste will artfully and evenly blend through hair to achieve maximum strong staying power with a matte finish. Et Voila! How high you go is up to you.
Shadow fade with curly hair
This is a cool French crop for curly hair that is heavy on the fringe, but gets shorter and shorter with a shadow fade on the sides and back. As the hair gets shorter it gets straighter, but the main focus is on the gorgeous crown of curls on top of your head!
To get the wonderful curly texture apply N4’s Texture Styling Creme to define curls and build body, texture and control. You also don’t need to worry about any pesky flyaways or frizziness, as this product is perfect for combatting that!
Show off your curls with this totally in-trend hairstyle.
90’s curtain bangs
The 90’s called and they want some summer action!
Remember when we all used to point and laugh and shout ‘you’ve got curtains’ as if it was illegal to rock this style. Well, ask a young Brad Pitt and they’ll tell you just how much the 90s curtain bangs are in style today, and we don’t see them leaving us for a while.
A sharp part down the middle is rather striking and gives us all the beach vibes. You can opt for a very short cut underneath, or keep it a normal short length if you’re not feeling quite so bold, (we don’t want you to feel like you’ve travelled back in time to the 90’s).
Finish off with Firm Hold Gel for a smooth and slick look. It will give you a strong and flexible hold with a shine, but without the stickiness!
