Bonjour Dah-ling!

We love playing with new hair trends, but sometimes we’re just not ready to rock a bold look on the regular. If you’re looking to have a little fun with no strings attached, you’ve come to the right place! These trends are sure to spice up your look, if only for the night. Because let’s be honest…it’s the lack of commitment that makes these trends especially appealing!

Experiment with Glitter

One of our favorite hair trends to date is the glitter root trend. We wouldn’t be surprised if the glittery greatness surpasses flower crowns this festival season! All you need is a jar of glitter and some hair gel. Part your hair as desired and apply Firm Hold Gel directly to roots, no more than an inch away from your part. For best results, use a brush to paint glitter onto hair, rather than sprinkling freely. Washing it off may be a little more challenging…but with hair this fabulous, that’s the least of your worries!

Grab the Hair Chalk

Hair chalking is one of the easiest ways to add a pop of color to your hair, without the commitment. It’s easy to apply, won’t damage your hair, and washes out with shampoo. The key is to use soft chalk pastels – normal chalk won’t deliver the same results. Note: application can get a little messy, so we recommend using gloves and wearing a top you don’t mind getting dirty during the process. When you’re ready to wave au revoir to your pastels, wash your hair with Clarifying Shampoo to make sure you get all the chalk residue out. Conditioning treatment is also a must (may we recommend Reconstructing Masque?) as the chalk can suck up the natural moisture from your strands.

Get a Gloss

One way to flirt with new hair color without the commitment or damage of color is to get a gloss. Hair glosses are a form of demi-permanent hair color that helps enhance your hair’s natural shine while revitalizing the tone of your hair. It’s perfect for those new to the world of hair color that want to try out a new beauty trend without committing. A gloss is different from a color because it stains the hair without penetrating the follicle and when it fades, you won’t be left with visible roots or regrowth. For an extra dose of shine and repair, add 1-2 pumps of Fluoro5 before or after styling.

Play with Clip-Ins

Clip-in extensions do it all: make hair longer, fuller, and layered and allow you to play with pops of color. The pieces are as easy to attach and remove, but it’s important to maintain them. We recommend brushing through extensions before and after use with a flexible bristled brush. You never want to get tangles at the base of your extensions.
